April 2014 - New Cargo Company Delivers Fashion to Rickenbacker!

Cargo company, Cathay Pacific, now delivering fashion from Hong Kong to Rickenbacker Airport!

Because Central Ohio is an ideal distribution hub in the United States due to it's population proximity and logistical expertise, the air-cargo industry at Rickenbacker Airport, Columbus Ohio is increasing.  And this is probably just the beginning of continued growth and an economy booster.

On March 21, 2014, the cargo company, Cathay, began it's twice weekly flights from Hong Kong with product for leading fashion companies to their local warehouses for distribution in Ohio. "We expect the Cathay service will significantly increase the percentage of Columbus-bound fashion landing in Columbus, primarily impacting that which is currently landing in Chicago," said David Whitaker, the Rickenbacker Airport authority's vice president of business development.

Out of the Columbus-bound fashion goods flown by air, Rickenbacker received 24%, Chicago received 34%, New York received 8%, Cincinnati received 19% and 14% landed at other airports.  The goods were trucked to Columbus for distribution.
